The Municipal Chief Executive Officer (MCE) of the Jirapa Municipal Assembly, Hon. Nicholas Soyiri has stated in a press conference that the enterprising prowess of the slain CEO of the Royal Cosy Hills Hotel, Eric Johnson has lifted the corporate image of Jirapa globally and has significantly impacted on lives throughout the country.

On February 11, 2024, the lifeless body Mr. Johnson was found in his private apartment in what appears to be a case of murder in which Hon. Soyiri described in the statement as “barbaric and inhumane” and that no human being deserves that treatment let alone the caliber of Mr. Johnson.

The press conference held on February 19, 2024 at the premises of the Jirapa Municipal Assembly, updated media persons on developments so far concerning the murder and efforts made in apprehending the perpetrators.

The statement indicated that seven suspects were arrested and after further investigations and interrogations, two of the suspects have been granted police enquiry bail to report to the police periodically whilst the other five were arraigned before a Wa District Court on February 14, 2024 to reappear on February 28, 2024.

The statement further indicated that a dismissed Human Resource Manager of the facility was also arrested in route to Takoradi and is currently assisting the police in its investigations.

The MCE urged the general public not to engage in acts that would negatively affect the peace in Jirapa and has cautioned the media and the general public at large to be circumspect in discussing the event which he said was sensitive in nature in order not to inflame passions.

He expressed the heart felt condolences of the Jirapa Municipal Assembly and the Municipal Security Council and is assuring all patrons and prospective patrons of the facility that measures have been kept in place to guarantee their safety.

The MCE also expressed gratitude to the sons and daughters of Jirapa for their “unflinching support, solidarity and concern” so far in the bid to unravel the heinous crime.

He assured that the perpetrator(s) will be unveiled.
