In line with government’s commitment and vision in improving food security, reduce importaion of food items, enhance Ghana’s crop production and making agriculture a lucrative venture for the Youth,
The WA Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Tahiru Isaahku Moomin took time to engage the community of Kperisi in the Wa municipality in the Upper West Region to highlight the importance of irrigation to that community.

In a colourful event held with the Chiefs and people of kperisi, Hon. Tahiru Issahaku Moomin underscored the importance of the project to the people of Kperisi and government’s commitment to enhance the livelihood of the people through the second phase of its flagship programme, Planting for Food and Jobs.


He urged the people to cooperate with the contractor executing the project to be able to deliver the on schedule, whilst pleading with them to endorse the NPP parliamentary candidate for wa Central Hajia Humu Awudu in the upcoming elections.

The project is supposed to be completed within 18 months and costs GHC 19 million and funded by the Government of Ghana.


The dam when completed is expected to hold some one million cubic(1m3) capacity of water and is being supervised by the Ghana Irrigation Development Authority (GIDA) with Mok- lam GH LTD as the executing.

The project is to enable farmers irrigate their farms for food crop production.
