The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah (General Mosquito) on November 23, 2024, paid a visit to the Jirapa constituency to engage with electorates and party supporters ahead of the December 7 general elections on the changing and resetting Ghana agenda.
The event took place at the Jirapa lorry station around 7:45pm. The event observed over hundreds of individuals from youth and women groups, including some dignitaries from the regional and national level. The regional chairman of the party Mr. Abdul Nasir Saani a.k.a Chairman Bunas and the regional communications officer.
The constituency Chairman Mr. David Yeng a.k.a (Yaw Carpenter) in addressing voters and party sympathizers at the gathering thanked all and Sundry for availing themselves in their numbers to receive the national chairman of the NDC party.
He further expressed his warm welcome to the national chairman of the party to Jirapa constituency, a strong hold of the party since 1992. “Hon. Asiedu Nketiah national chairman of our party. I am assuring you that 90 percent of the votes cast will be in favour of the NDC come December 7, 2024”. He added.
Moving forward, the member of parliament who also doubles as the parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Hon. Cletus Seidu Dapilah in his engagement with electorates acknowledged the national chairman of the party for his commitment to the party at all times. Signifying General Mosquito as a symbol of boldness, courage and fearlessness. “Our chairman has given hope to the party, he has made the grassroot to believe that come December 7 his excellency John Dramani Mahama will be declared president of the nation” He claims.
He also pleaded with the electorates to vote out the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for putting Ghanaians in economic hardship and poverty by voting massively for the NDC to win victory in the December 7th general elections.
The MP in his closing remarks told the national chairman that the regional chairman Mr. Bunas is not just a chairman of the region. But a chairman who is up to the game in ensuring that the NDC secures majority of the seats in the region and should be recommended for his hard work and commitment to the party.
However, the national chairman Mr. Asiedu Nketiah in addressing the public noted that he is not in the constituency to campaign. But to remind all potential voters to vote massively for the NDC party such that where they may have shortfalls the vote cast in Jirapa and other strong holds can cover up to bring the NDC to power come December 7, 2024.
He also disclosed to the constituency that choosing Hon. Cletus Seidu Dapilah is the best option. Following a thorough examination of the MP’s performance in parliamentary affairs and parliamentary committee report that was presented to the party headquarters under the leadership of the Speaker of parliament and the minority caucus in parliament. He further reaffirmed that a secret team was deployed to come and assess Hon. Cletus Dapilah’s performance in the constituency and the Hon. MP was able to pass through all successfully.
Mr. Asiedu Nketiah concluded his speech by thanking all stakeholders present and also urging all voters, supporters and party sympathizers to solidly rally behind Hon. Cletus Seidu Dapilah and the flag bearer of the party to ensure the NDC victory in the 7th December, 2024 general elections.
As the campaign is at it climax at both the parliamentary and presidential levels, stakeholders like the National Commission on Civil Education (NCCE), religious leaders, the media, Ghana Police Service and other security services are all calling for peace and tolerance before, during and after the elections.
