The Jirapa Municipal Assembly has taken delivery of and commissioned a number of road construction equipment under government’s District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) to facilitate assemblies in road maintenance and undertaking minor road construction.
The equipment include a backhoe excavator, a grader, a steam roller, two concrete mixers and a six-wheeler tipper truck.
The equipments were commissioned by the Municipal Chief Executive Officer (MCE) for the Jirapa Municipality, Hon. Nicholas Soyiri and the Parliamentary Candidate for the Jirapa Constituency in the guy upcoming 2024 polls.
Commissioning the equipment, the Jirapa MCE explained that the equipment were procured to enhance road maintenance and minor road construction to facilitate interconnectivity between communities and other districts to promote development especially in the areas of agriculture, health, transport and linking sources of goods and farm produce to market centers to promote commerce.
He said the assembly was still expecting some more of the equipment in the very near future.
The equipment were paraded through the principal streets of the Jirapa township as part of launching them.
