The Parliamentary Candidate for the Jirapa Constituency, Hajia Aisha Salifu on the 9th of September, 2024 officially filed her nomination at the offices of the Electoral Commission (EC) here in Jirapa successfully, making her the official Parliamentary Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the December 2024 polls.
She was accompanied to the offices of the EC for the filing by the Municipal Chief Executive Officer for the Jirapa Municipality, Hon. Nicholas Soyiri, Constituency Chairman for the NPP, Chairman Kpokpori Tieh, Constituency Secretary, Ali Domah and a former Chief Executive Officer for the then Jirapa District Assembly, Hon. Winifred Diaka.
In attendance were constituency executives and NPP party faithfuls who turned out in their hundreds, electrifying the gathering with singing and dancing to brass band music and vuvuzela blowing.
Hajia Salifu addressed the teaming crowd after filing her nomination, urging them to vote for her and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Presidential Candidate for the NPP in the 2024 polls in the incoming December, 2004 polls to break what she calls the “shackles” of poverty, underdevelopment, illiteracy and unemployment whilst continuing the development agenda of NPP government.
The Municipal Chief Executive and the Jirapa Constituency Chairman took turns to address the crowd, outlining the successes the government has chalked so far in the municipality and the development dividends the municipality stands to gain when a vote is cast for Hajia Salifu and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
They also charged NPP supporters to kick-start and intensify door to door camping because the successful filing of the candidature of Hajia Salifu means the election campaign has begun in ernest.
