The Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zongo Development Fund, Hajia Ayisha Salifu has on Thursday, 6th July, 2023 the Women for Sustainable Development Organization.
The organization is aimed at empowering women in the Jirapa Municipality of the Upper West Region.
The launching which took place at the Royal Cosy Hills Hotel in Jirapa saw in attendance over 500 women with 77 groups benefiting.
Addressing the women and invited guest at the programme, Hajia Ayisha mentioned that “my goal is to make our women folk a household name globally”.
Our women are bold but sometimes to even voice out, some either cultural practices will let them coiled. So by giving them the voice and also access to the structures; that’s why I have the whole MASLOC here, our women they are structures out there that some of them have no idea they can access even if they know they don’t know how to access,” she added.
Hajia Ayisha further indicated that the organization’s goal is to help the women grow what they already have and sustain it.
Speaking on the theme: “Breaking barriers for sustainable development for women,” Sheik Abdul Mumin Dalhu stated that the central role of women in society has ensured the stability, progress and long-term development of nations.
He advanced that “women remain the caregivers of children and elders in every progressive country of the world. International studies reveals that when the economy and political organization of a society change, women take the lead in helping the family adjust to new realities and challenges. They are likely to be the prime initiator of outside assistance, and play an important role in facilitating changes in family life.”
Sheik Dalhu who is an advocate for environmental protection used the opportunity to appeal to women across the world to involve in tree transplanting.
