A Ghana Education Service (GES)report sighted by jirapafmonline.com indicates that the conduct of 2024 year Basic Education Certificate Education (BECE) conducted by the West African Examinations Council was generally event free except for an uny accident involving the Jirapa Municipal GES vehicle conveying exams papers to an examination centre due to poor weather conditions, no casualties were fortunately not recorded.
The situation was however, dealt with by the Jirapa Police Command who saw to the successful delivery of the papers to the center although it took an hour later to start.
The exams which started from the 8th to the 15th of July, 2024 saw 1123 candidates out of a registered 1126 because of three absentees sit in four exams centres namely St. Francis SHS ‘A’ and ‘B’ respectively, Jirapa SHS and Ullo SHS in 12 disciplines.
The commencement was witnessed by the Municipal Assembly lead by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Nicholas Soyiri, Coordinating Director, Majeed Ayariga and Municipal Education Director, Huudu Abdulkaadi Kunaateh amongst other dignitaries who offered fatherly and motherly words of encouragement and motivation whilst admonishing that the very exams they were about to take is a gateway to successful future.
Some cash donations according to the report were made to facilitate the feeding of candidates whilst the assembly facilitated the provision of vehicle fuel for the exercise.
One notable pluses of the exams is that it was void of exams malpractices and people with interest in education in the Jirapa Municipality have generally affirmed that the conduct of the exams will positively affect the results of the exams in particular and education in general.
Exams Coordinator, Joseph Norah also confirmed that all exams scripts were adequately conveyed to the exams council depot 3:30 pm on the 15th of July, 2024.
