The only public place of convenience in the Sabuli township in the Jirapa Municipality is been described as a death trap which is a worry to the Sabuli chief, the youth of the area and the indigenes of that community.
The said dilapidated structure that serves the purpose of a place of convenience for the past twenty years is been supported by decaying planks of wood and can not support weights up to 70 kilograms.
In an interview with Jirapa FM, the Chief of Sabuli, Naa Fuseini Gariba III confirmed the situation and explained that central location of the structure is a hazard especially to unsuspecting visitors and first timers to community.
Naa Gariba added that alternative which could have served the purpose is located at the Sabuli market square, a project which he says has been abandoned for the last six years and therefore unusable.
INCOMPLETE TOILET.
A crossection of the youth spoken to wondered why such basic amenities should be overlooked by the authorities especially that Sabuli is one of the best performing area councils when it comes to revenue generation to the Municipal Assembly.
Another youth quipped that if there is a way they will be willing to divert revenue collected by the Sabuli Area Council into resolving the challenge and would only start remittance to the Assembly after the problem has been resolved.
There is a general call for equity in distributing development projects especially favouring performing Area Councils.
