The former assembly member for Kaleo East electoral area in the Nadowli/Kaleo District of the Upper West Region, Noah Asinye Ngminnie who expressed interest in contesting the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary Primaries ahead of the 2024 elections has made a U-turn by declining from picking a nomination form for the bid, withdrawing from the contest.

According to Hon. Noah ‘’ I have been nursing this ambition for a considerable  time period coupled with calls from party faithful to contest the NPP primaries because of the confidence reposed in me’’. However, the elders and leadership of the party found it prudent that for the sake of party unity the need to build consensus in fielding a candidate of compromise without going through the complicated processes that go with parliamentary primaries and its related outcomes.

‘’I had several engagements with my colleagues, Mr. Cornelius Belba and Hon. Kambotuu Francis Xavier, who have both shown interest in contesting the parliamentary primaries’’, adding that they have both shown some level of commitment to having a compromise candidate but have also agreed in principle to relinquish their interests in the contest.

Hon. Noah has also hinted that, elders of the party have had several engagements with he and his colleagues, subsequently leading him to take this ‘’painful but bold’’ decision to withdraw from picking the nomination form to contest in the primaries.

Hon Noah has stated that his love for party unity and respect for party leadership has inspired his decision.

He added that his colleagues have clearly indicated that if he steps down they would both be able to iron things out on their own terms.

Hon. Noah Asinye Ngminnie has however cautioned that if his colleagues renege in presenting a compromise candidate as agreed, would compel him to pick up a form to contest the parliamentary primaries.

In a press conference yesterday, Hon. Noah Asinye Ngminnie apologized to his support base for the disappointment and assured them that it is for the greater good of the NPP in the Nadowli/Kaleo constituency of which wining the seat with a united front is at the heart of party and country.
