December throughout to January they say is a period of celebrations, stock taking, and of course, festivities and festivals.
To stand by its mantra ‘Changing Lives Through Broadcasting’ Jirapa FM in conjunction with Azumah Resources, a gold prospecting company have answered the needs of the season by bringing to its cherished patrons a beauty pageant dubbed ‘Jirapa Most Beautiful’ and themed ‘Our Culture Our Heritage, Redefining Beauty to Promote Unity’
The pageant which was launched on the 4th of December, 2023 has been carefully planed to entertain patrons, unearth raw talents in young ladies, whilst promoting unity, development and reliving the cultural and traditional values of the Jirapa Municipality.
The programme got to a start with an audition which brought five smart, beautiful and positive young ladies vying for the ultimate, THE BEAUTY CROWN.
These poised young ladies include Bawelle Charity from Jirapa Wuoyiri with the stage name Charity, Dongbeninge Dora from Jirapa stage named Mwintuuro and Basomasal Grace from Jeffiri.
The rest are Kaa-ere Lydia from Tampoe, known on stage as Lydia Flower and from Nambeg, we have Zorweie Marcellina aka as Tietaar on stage.
These five exceptional young ladies with their intelligence and talent and with the efforts of their supporters through votes will be battling for the converted crown and the tittle ‘MISS JIRAPA 2023’ whilst entertaining, educating and uniting the people of the Jirapa Municipality both far and near.
To do this the contests will be exhibiting their prowess in storytelling, cooking of indigenous meals, enacting of traditional rites such as funeral, marriage and puberty rites and showcasing of stage costume among other amusements.
The event is billed to climax on the 23rd of November, 2023 with the ultimate prize of a motorbike among other mouth watering prizes, the judges are said to be having a tough time because of the extreme talents of these young ladies.

In a related revelation, Jirapa FM is furthering the enjoyment of the festive celebrations by bringing to its numerous patrons who love and enjoy their xylophone or ‘gyille’ music what they call ‘xylofest 2023’ where contestants will compete to become the ultimate in playing the xylophone whilst promoting the indigenous culture and unity of the Jirapa Municipality.
The event is slated to kickstart in mid December, 2023.
