The Jirapa Boys and Girls Movement is a youth group with membership made up of the youth of Jirapa has celebrated its 10th anniversary.
As part of its mandate, it is dedicated at empowering the youth especially it’s members to achieve the much needed development of the area.
It is a non-religious and non-political organization of young people poised to serve the community, utilizing grassroots initiatives.
In a world where community-driven initiatives are crucial for positive change, the Jirapa Boys and Girls Movement has adopted this approach to deal with the hydra headed challenges almost all societies are faced with.
The organization marked it’s tenth anniversary by distributing some sanitary pads for girls in some selected schools in the Jirapa municipality namely; Compori Junior High School (JHS), Sigri JHS, Nyene JHS, and Tampoe JHS.
The rest are the Baazu and Tampoe JHSs.
The gesture is to promote healthy menstrual hygiene and to check low school attendance among girls because studies show that menstrual cycles among girls impede their attendance to social events especially school attendance.
In it’s ten year history, the Jirapa Boys and Girls organization has undertaken several community based initiatives and interventions in a humble bid to make life a little bit bearable especially for the vulnerable in society with special focus on the youth.
