Jennifer Tenganabang Nanfuri, a Parliamentary Candidate hopeful for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Jirapa Constituency has expressed confident of her emergence as the party’s candidate in the forthcoming primaries.
Speaking on Jirapa Fm’s The Political Sight program, Madam Nanfuri says “This year’s primaries in Jirapa will be interesting. I will win the contest; I’m saying it with confidence”.
According to her, delegates in the party are the strength of the party and they must be regarded as such. She claimed that the delegates are usually neglected after primaries and the only time they are given much recognition is when it is time for primaries.
“I said delegates are ready for me because of the way we do things in the party. We don’t go to them; we only wait for election time then we run to them and give them something small to vote for us. After the election we don’t hear from them until the election. Delegates are no longer interested in that.”
Madam Jennifer advanced that delegates are now looking for candidates who will come to them at all time in order to know their challenges.
“If you don’t go to their communities but only organized zonal meetings how will you know their challenges. I’m going into their homes and they are receiving my message. I told them they are the party. Without delegates there’s no MP, without delegates there’s no constituency executive”, she added.
Apart from Madam Jennifer Nanfuri, Mr Cletus Seidu Dapilah, the incumbent MP and Bright B. Salia are contesting the primaries to represent the Constituency in the 2024 general elections.
