About 50 participants most of whom are within the youth bracket have been equiped with basic Information Communication Technology (ICT) skills here in the Jirapa Municipality under the Digital Skills Training Programme.
The programme under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications and Digitalization, the Youth Employment Agency and the Ghana Digital Centers Limited has been designed to equip the youth with the necessary ICT tools in order to integrate them into government’s flagship digitalization drive which affects almost all sectors of the socioeconomic outlook of the country.
The two-week training exercise was spearheaded by the Parliamentary Candidate of the Jirapa Constituency, Hajia Aisha Salifu saw participants ranging from those who were touching a computer for the first time to those with proficient ICT knowledge hone their skills in areas such as the MS Office Suit, to the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The instructors for the programme Francis Agyei and Isaac Kusi expect the training to be a launchpad into the ICT world where several solutions can be achieved to solve several problems from a whole lot of areas.
They amused the trainees by teaching them how to use computer applications to easily solve problems that were initially thought to be “hard to solve” especially where large volumes of data are involved.
The Municipal Coordinating Director for the Jirapa Municipality passed through to offer a word of encouragement to participants and underscored the importance of ICT in today’s contemporary world saying that there will come a time that nothing can be done without ICT litracy, knowledge and skill.
The programme was hosted by Fuad Haruna where some logistics were made available through the Municipal ICT center.
