The Member of Parliament [MP] for Jirapa Constituency in the Upper West Region, Cletus Seidu Dapilah has bemoaned the way democracy is practice in Ghana’s Parliament.
Cletus Seidu Dapilah mentioned that when there are national issues for MPs to debate on, they focus on how to defend their political parties.
He added that parliamentarians usually fight for their political parties first before the development of the country.
The Jirapa Constituency law maker also stated that sometimes some of the issues they bring to the floor of parliament cannot help the nation but MPs are forced to accept them due to the political parties they belong to.
According to Mr Dapilah, before Ghana can develop, the citizens have to change their behaviour. He indicated that, he visited Kigali in Rwanda and no government worker accepts bribe; and so if that is practice in Ghana, it is going to help the nation developed.
The Jirapa legislature therefore called on the citizens to change their way of doing things to help the nation develop.
Mr. Dapilah made this known to Jirapa Fm in an exclusive interview in Jirapa.
