The Municipal Chief Executive Officer for the Jirapa Municipality, Hon. Nicholas Soyiri has reaffirmed his commitment to solidifying the unity of the rank and file of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Jirapa Constituency wishing to make it a much more formidable alternative to promote the development agenda being undertaken by the NPP government.

There have been reported cases of perceived division within party in the constituency when Hon. Soyiri stood against Hajia Aisha Salifu in a bid to choose a parliamentary candidate to lead the NPP in the upcoming 2024 general elections in which Hajia Salifu won the slot.

Typical of politics, the constituency executives were divided between the two contenders some of whom have been described to have taken entrenched positions even after the election with Hon. Soyiri congratulating Hajia Salifu on winning the election.

The situation has been said to threaten the stability of the party in the constituency, prompting its late Upper West Regional Chairman, SAANBAYE Basilide (SB) Kangbere to reunite the party.

SB Kangbere demonstrated this by bringing the two former aspirants together at a function in Jirapa to celebrate the achievements of one of the founding fathers of the NPP, Simon Diedong Dombo, where he knelt before the two, whom he called his children, to work with each other to capture the seat for the NPP in parliament whilst maintaining power at the presidential level.

Hon. Soyiri confirmed his support for Hajia Aisha Salifu and the choice of the majority which he said was God’s choice and has promised to go all out to bolster the campaign efforts of the party and is urging everyone in and out of the party to support the NPP to continue the development efforts in the municipality in particular and in Ghana at large.

His affirmation came against the backdrop of the campaign tour of Vice President and presidential candidate of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to the Upper West Region where he paid a visit to the Jirapa Municipality.

Hon. Soyiri outlined a number of projects that have been and are being undertaken by the government in the municipality in the areas of education, health, security, social intervention, amongst others.

He said the NPP government needed more time to complete these projects whilst fulfilling other promised ones to ensure the total development the people so much deserve.

He once again called on all and sundry to rally behind Hajia Salifu and Dr. Bawumia come December, 2024.
