‎A strong rainstorm has wrecked havoc in Pieng and Challu in the, toppling 16 electricity poles, disrupting power supply and posing serious danger to residents and commuters in those areas.

‎Live electrical currents are still flowing through the fallen lines, significantly increasing the risk of electrocution.

‎A correspondent from a local radio station “SISSALA RADIO” Muntawakilu Mahamud, reports that the incident occurred in the evening of 15th May, 2025 when strong winds and heavy rains affected the said communities, bringing down electricity power lines and pylons, causing widespread mayhem.

 

‎Local authorities are urging the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) to respond urgently to bring the situation under control.

‎There has so far been no official comment on the situation.

‎In the meantime, residents and travelers are advised to be cautious and remain vigilant to avoid contact with any fallen cables which may result in electrocution.
