Forty-eight year old private legal practitioner and lecturer, Charles Luanga Puozuing who hails from Sabuli in the Jirapa municipality has been nominated by President, John Dramani Mahama as Regional Minister for the Upper West Region.

He is the youngest ever to be nominated for the position in the region and is married with three children.

Commenting on his acceptance, Puosuing first expressed gratitude to the President for reposing such an important task on him, especially at a relatively young age and has promised to bring his abilities, experiences and skill to the job as a young man and is heavily relying on the resources of the youth both in and out of the region to bring about the much needed development to raise it to the next level of prosperity.

He says Job opportunities will be created for the youth but to hit the road running, his administration will activate already laid down programmes such as the coding system, recruitment of district-wide apprenticeship programmes and engagement in the Farmers’ Services centres whilst other long-term programmes such as the Women’s Bank are rolled out.

Another of his priority areas is 6 improvement of the road network in the region to improve interconnectivity between neighboring jurisdictions to bring about the much needed development to the region

Puozuing has averred to do this through lobbying the sector ministry because road contracts he says, lay within the purview of the central government due to their capital intensive nature and that the Upper West Region will definitely benefit through his efforts in lobbying.

He says his administration will also focus on land administration by integrating traditional land tenure systems with the existing land administration laws in order to facilitate understanding of land acquisition and use and eliminating litigation whilst reducing poverty through land usage.

According to Puosuing, the results of the just ended general elections indicates that the country is as united as it can be and his administration intends to leverage on this unity to promote greater development and that he is going to be Regional Minister for all.

He also intends to institute at least a day in a week to attend to unofficial matters for both his party, the National Democratic Convention (NDC) and private individuals and groups, away from his official engagements and appointments.

He has warned that laziness has no place whatsoever in all his engagements and that a clearer picture of his administration can only be painted if he is giving the approval to serve as Regional Minister of the Upper West Region.
