The 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) officially commenced today, June 11, across the Jirapa Municipality in a smooth and orderly manner.
A total number of 1, 255 candidates are expected to participate in examinations, comprising 529 boys and 726 girls, reflecting a notable female majority.
Candidates are drawn from 50 registered schools, from both public and private Junior High Schools within the municipality.
Examinations are being conducted at four designated centres, namely: St. Francis Girls’ Senior High School – Centre A, St. Francis Girls’ Senior High School – Centre B, Jirapa Senior High School and Ullo Senior High School.
According to Donald Puakyiene, Public Relations Officer of the Jirapa Municipal Education Office, the District Education Directorate is expressing its satisfaction with the orderly conduct in which the exams has taken off with and has commended school authorities, invigilators and security personnel for their commitment to maintaining order in ensuring candidates take their exams in a serene atmosphere.
As the exams progress, stakeholders remain optimistic of a successful and incident-free examination event.
There has been some well wishing messages from some opinion leaders including the Paramount Chief of Jirapa, Naa Donglabong Dinaa Ganaa III, the Jirapa Municipal Youth Chairman, Richmond Bayuo, JirapanArea Pentecost Pastor, Pastor Stephen Asante among others.
Nationally, a total number of 603, 328 candidates are supposed to take the exam in all the 16 Regions nationwide comprising 297, 250 males and 306, 078 females, mirroring the scenario in the Jirapa municipality an improvement of 5.99 percent in population as compared to the year 2024.
According to a statement from the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), 20, 395 candidates are expected to take the exams in various subjects in 2, 237 centres with private schools expected to take up exams in 15 centres.
The exams are supposed to end on Thursday, 17th June, 2025 bar any unforseen eventuality.
