The Nandom Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Anthony Ziniel personally stepped out of his office, saw to and took part in the distribution of seed maize to over 2000 farmers in the Nandom municipality.

‎His action was personally targeted at the aged, especially elderly women and the physically challenged where he took their National Identification Cards and did the registration himself, seeing to the offloading and distribution of the bags of seed to these fragile group of people.

‎He also provided telephone numbers to most of these old ladies most of who did not have phone numbers, a requirement for the registration and collection of the seeds.

‎Asked why he didn’t leave the chore to his subordinates, he said it is his nature to personally see to it that things are done and done as they should be and that these group of people aren’t just anyone but a special group of people “very dear” to his heart.

‎He added that this act isn’t alien to him, “I’ve been doing this and being an MCE doesn’t change anything” he quipped.

‎Scores of farmers have queued since dawn to register and receive their consignment in an event free process although a gentleman tried to “borrow” the crutches of a physically challenged individual in order to beat the long queue, an act that was detected and sparked hilarious conversation among the crowd gathered.

‎The initiative of the distribution of the seeds is under the government’s Feed Ghana Project spearheaded by the Department of Agriculture where farmers have been issued free high-yield seeds to improve food production this cropping season.

‎4000 bags of fertilizer was earlier delivered to the farmers.

‎This consignment was supplied last year to farmers in northern Ghana to shore up food production during last year’s dry spell.
