There has been unrest in the border town of Hamile in the Lambusie District of the Upper West Region of Ghana when an Immigration officer named only as Morris, allegedly opened Ghana’s the boarder with Burkina Faso after the legal time of 6 PM in the evening, allowing in some individuals believed to be citizens of Burkina Faso.

‎According to reliable sources close to the Nandom Municipal Police Command the alleged act is said to have lead to the abduction of a Ghanaian woman married to a Burkinabe was spirited away into Burkina Faso through the same boarder by armed men in two private saloon cars believed to be security agents.

‎Unconfirmed sources say  the lady who was not immediately identified was traveling from Nandom to Hamile when the abduction was traveling with her daughter who managed to escape and blow an alarm which lead to the mobilization of the youth of the area who attacked the Ghana Immigration outpost, vandalizing it in the process.

‎The report added that Morris a Sargent with the Immigration service had his house ransacked and looted.

‎A mobile phone shop which he owns also suffered the same fate with his pick-up truck set ablaze.

‎Additional sources which cannot be verified says the husband of the abducted lady is being sort after by Burkina security agents for a coup attempt on that county’s military government and that the abduction was in a bid to lead to his arrest.

‎Calm returned to the town after the intervention of stakeholders including opinion leaders, traditional rulers and the Upper West Regional Security Council lead by the regional minister, Hon. Charles Luanga Puozuin.
‎Security has been beefed up with the Regional Police Command managing the situation.

‎There were no reported casualties except a woman who was actively participating in the demonstration passing out leading to her death.

‎The immigration officer is currently in the custody of the police preventing the demonstrators from lynching him.

‎The Lambusie District Chief Executive, Hon. Ireneus Naule Basimbie confirmed parts of the report in a phone interview.
