A total number of 44 Persons living With Disabilities (PWDs) across the Jirapa Municipality have benefited from funds amounting to GHS 104, 800. 00 to pursue education and other income generating projects.
The beneficiaries on Thursday, 25th, 2025 received checks in different amounts based on applications they submitted to the assembly to support them in education and other sustainable income generating ventures.
Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Peter To-ang, in presenting the cheques to the recipients, urged them to invest the funds prudently in sustainable income-generating or educational ventures which they indicated in their applications.
The disbursement follows a thorough review of applications submitted by the PWDs requesting for assistance to engage in educational and economic activities.
From the list of applications, the Assembly approved 44 individuals, comprising 19 females and 25 males.
In a short but life changing ceremonial event, Hon. To-ang reminded the beneficiaries that the effective use of the funds would be a critical factor for consideration in future disbursements.
“I encourage you to invest this financial support in sustainable and income-generating activities as stated in your application letters, future applications will be considered in subsequent disbursement based on how you make good use of this assistance.” , he pointed out.
In a related deed by the assembly, 30 PWDs in the municipality have been allocated an amount of GH¢28,000 to enable them participate in an upcoming conference in Damongo in the Savannah Region.
This separate funding is intended to cover their transportation, feeding, and accommodation expenses.
The MCE, Hon. To-ang, reiterated the assembly remains resolute and dedicated to promoting the welfare of all residents within the municipality, with particular emphasis on vulnerable groups.
